Nicotina en el vapeo

Vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking cigarettes and people new to the subject want to know how much nicotine is in vaping.

The specific answer may be a little difficult to answer, however, there are many studies that show that vaping is in fact a more favorable replacement than smoking cigarettes and, the changes are immediate and considerable.

Percentage of nicotine in an e-liquid

To know the amount of nicotine in the vape, one must know the concentration of nicotine in the e-juice or e-liquid. This is often expressed in milligrams per milliliter (mg/ml) but can also be expressed as a percentage.

There is a very easy and quick equation to calculate to get the mg/ml to nicotine percentage: percentage equals the number of mg/ml divided by 10. An example would be that if in a bottle of vape e-liquid there is 20 mg/ml of nicotine, the nicotine percentage is approximately 2%.

How much nicotine to smoke with a vape?

The nicotine levels in the vape will depend on the juice or e-liquid you buy, as they vary drastically. You can get the following:

  • The e-liquid containing 0% nicotine. This is ideal for those who simply want to vape for the sake of it, but obviously will not provide any benefit beyond a substitute for mechanical smoking to those trying to quit nicotine.
  • The one containing between 3 and 6 mg/ml of nicotine is an excellent choice for those trying to reduce their daily nicotine intake. However, it is unlikely to completely satisfy the cravings of regular smokers.
  • E-liquid 12 mg/ml nicotine is widely regarded as an adequate concentration to replace the one-pack-per-day smoking habit.
  • Nicotine concentrations of 18 mg/ml, e-juice will be able to serve as a replacement for moderate to heavy smoking involving at least one pack per day.
  • E-juice containing 24 mg/ml is considered highly concentrated and should only be used by heavy smokers who smoke more than two packs per day.
  • E-juice with concentrations of 36 mg/ml or higher can deliver potentially dangerous levels of nicotine and should only be used to dilute e-juices with lower nicotine levels.
