Viajar con vapeador

If your passion is vaping and you are about to travel for the first time with your electronic cigarette, you may be wondering if it is allowed to take it with you. Traveling with a vape is possible, however, there are some rules to take into account in order not to get a bad taste during the trip.

There are differences between carrying a vaporizer in your carry-on luggage and carrying a vaporizer in your checked luggage, so make sure you know the rules to avoid having your e-cigarette confiscated.

First of all, yes you can travel with a vape, but you must only carry it in your carry-on baggage. The TSA actually requires you to pack it in your carry-on, not your checked luggage, so it's probably a good thing for most of you to be able to bring it with you. But as a reminder, leave it in your bag, vaping is not allowed on board the plane.

Never turn on the vaporizer while in flight. You are not allowed to use it or charge it. You may even want to disconnect the battery to eliminate the possibility of accidentally turning it on.

The reason you cannot pack your vape in checked baggage is because of the batteries and the risk of catching fire. This applies to all electronic cigarettes, vaporizer pens or similar devices. Keep this in mind to always check the rules of the airline you are traveling with.

What about e-juice?

Since e-juice for vaping is in fact a liquid, you must follow the normal safety rules regarding airline liquids. This means that, you can carry vape liquid in your carry-on luggage as long as the container is 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or less and will fit in your 1-quart clear zip-top liquid bag.

Larger amounts can be packed in your checked luggage without any problem.
